A little about Shelly

So, we decided to do a little post about us so you could get to know us a little more. I'm Shelly, one of the writers on this blog. I just entered my 30's and have LOVED every minute of it so far!! I've grown up and lived in Tulsa pretty much my whole life (if you want to count being born in Colorado and living away at college)! I love Oklahoma for many reasons: my family is here, seeing the sun set, the smell of rain and thunderstorms blowing in the Spring time, our love for college football (go OU), finding hole in the wall restaurants in small towns with real down home cookin', just to name a few. I met the love of my life and we've been together for a year (JUNE 1st). He is my funny, loving, romantic taste tester :) We just got our first pet, a turtle we named Sheldon, a couple of months ago. He's hilarious and by far a more exciting pet then we ever thought a turtle could be! Here is a picture of us, and our new family member. :)
Dee Jay and I love to fish and be outdoors whenever we can!  He loves to hunt (deer) and I have had a whole new experience of finding good venison recipes lately. So, come fall/winter you can probably expect a few venison recipe blogs! Yum, right?!?! Moving on to random things, my favorite color is still pink, I love big rings and finding new jewelry, my favorite person I would have dinner with dead or alive is Audry Hepburn, I love music and going out and finding live music around town, and I am a baseball fanatic!! The St. Louis Cardinals will have my heart and my vote forever! I love to go to games when I can and fill up on hotdogs and peanuts and "root, root, root" for my home team!! The smell of the air, the crack of the bat, seeing fireworks go off when your home team hits a home run leaves me feeling like a little kid inside! This is me with my best friend at a Cardinals game a couple of years ago...

I decided to do this blog with my friend Leah because I love to cook and eat!! I love finding new recipes online or in magazines but I hate when there is nothing out there about it. Is it good? Bad? Impossible? Too salty? Dry? Give me something to go off of!!!! So with this blog I hope I can help you discover and try out some of these recipes that otherwise may sit in your recipe book, or e-mail, or wherever uncooked. If you have one you want me to try feel free to e-mail me. Especially those really popular ones you find on Pinterest or other sites that look great but you just have no idea if it's worth the effort to try cooking. We will try and fix what we can so we can share our experiences with you! I hope you have enjoyed what we've done so far. I know I have enjoyed cooking for you! :) See you in a couple days with something new and delicious :)
