Photo Challenge Update 3/25/2013

Photo Challenge This Past Week Included:

Something Green
Something Funny
Something Yellow
A Toy
Corner of our home
A Sign
An Animal

My something green picture is of a green bell pepper! I try and keep sliced bell peppers in our fridge for easy snack ideas! They are absolutely delicious and only about 30 calories for one large bell pepper! You really can't beat that!

My something funny picture is of "Shelly Beans"! I rarely see my name out there (which is nice, I like having a unique name), and this one definitely takes the cake! D called me, "Shelly Bean" the rest of the day! I've heard these are actually very yummy, I have yet to try them out! :)

My something yellow picture is of a fishing jig out of our tackle box! I had to do some major cleaning out of the fishing bag because these things were just floating around everywhere, and it's an awfully nice surprise when you reach in the bag and one of these little guys comes out attached to your hand! OUCH

Ah, yes! Our Nintendo! I can remember putting the stickers on this when I was a little girl! And yes, we still have two controllers and the gun! Oh what fun!

This is a corner in our kitchen! Let's see, it's not the prettiest (I need cute cord covers or something!) but this is probably the most used corner of our home!

In other words, you better not even take your foot off the break while driving!

My animal picture is of a little sheep off of a blanket my Grandma Hendrix made for me and all of my cousins! I named it Snuggles when I was a little girl (and yes, I can't refer to it as a blanket; still to this day I will ask D to hand me Snuggles!) It's pretty worn out since it's been around for probably 25+ years...but it's still as soft and cozy as ever! I hope someday our kids can snuggle up with it on the couch with us and it will bring them just as many warm and cozy moments as it has brought me!

I have a lot of catching up to do with my recipes! I've got about 3 that need to make their way on here! So stay tuned! I'll be posting one tomorrow!
Until Then...

Photo Challenge Update 3/17/2013

Happy St. Patrick's Day folks!! Hope everyone is wearing green! This is not typically a holiday I do much for, so I added some shamrocks, and I'm sitting here typing this out in a green shirt...for what it's worth this is the extent of my "celebration" lol!

Here were my photo prompts for this week:

My Favorite Accessory
Tree
Flower
Colorful
Sunglasses
Fork
My Name

This is my favorite accessory! Dee Jay bought it for me a little over a year ago! It's an infinity necklace that says "I love you...I love you more"! He just melts my heart!!

This is my tree picture! Love seeing all the shades of an Oklahoma sky! The sun was setting, and it almost looks like nighttime right above us, and daylight out on the horizon!

This is my flower! These delicate buds, are seen all over the place in the Spring! We have two trees right outside that are covered in them! We have been watching them, waiting for the blooms to know that Spring is really on it's way!

My colorful picture is of a T-shirt I own! I love all the bright colors!! Hurry up Summer!!

Here is a snapshot of my sunglasses! (Of course the day after I take pictures of sunglasses shirt, I need to take a picture of sunglasses lol)! I don't know about you guys, but I am really rough on my sunglasses IF I can actually keep a hold of them! This pair has lasted me one Summer so far! I always like to buy them cheap, because I know they will probably be ruined or lost in a short amount of time!

Well, this picture is pretty self explanatory! Here is a fork! A what? A fork! A what? A fork! OH, a fork!! (If you have never played that game with a large group of people, your brain has truly never been scrambled haha!)

We have three different pictures that a couple cute little munchkins have drawn for us! What you can't see in the picture is my "portrait"! Dee Jay has one too, and we then we have one with the two of us! I LOVE watching kids learn to write and draw!! They are so cute when they are all focused on something like a name, and it comes out PERFECT like this! I have millions of these stashed away from over the years, because I can't bring myself to toss them! When we have children of our own someday and they start coloring and writing, I have a feeling I'm going to run out of room on the fridge and walls! And yes, I will frame their first coloring experience, because everyone starts somewhere!!

So there you have it! I've been slacking on the blog this week, but you guys have been back day after day checking out past recipes and that makes me happy! I promise I will do much better this week! Have a great Sunday, and until next time...

Photo Challenge Update for March

I have been completely slacking off in the cooking department! Dee Jay has had a crazy busy week and his schedule hasn't left any time for us to sit down and eat, so I've been lazy! At least I have the photo challenge to give me an update this week, before I get back to the kitchen! So here we go...

Illuminate
Color Purple
Soft
Eat
Sparkle
Drink
Something Orange
Black & White
Fruit

My illuminate picture is of our lamp in the living room! I love the soft glow you get at night instead of bright overhead lighting!

My color purple photo is of an earring of mine with purple beads! This is one of my favorite pairs of earrings because I love adding purple back into the wardrobe in the Spring and Summer!

These are my very soft, comfy house shoes! It kind of feels like you're walking on a pillow because the cushion inside is very soft and plump!

My "eat" photo, is of my grapefruit! I LOVE grapefruits for a snack or an easy breakfast! Sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top, and you're in business! All the grapefruits I've been getting lately are so delicious, sweet and juicy I just want to go buy all of them! Doesn't hurt that you can squeeze the leftover juice from them once you're done eating and have a tiny little glass of fresh grapefruit juice! YUM!

My picture of sparkles is of my nail polish! I adore Sinful Colors ($1.99 at Walgreens), and I probably have about every color that they put out there! It's a bad habit, but it's so fun!

I am trying to cut back on my caffeine consumption! These are caffeine free and so delicious!

Seeing that I was raised in an OU lovin' family, it was REALLY hard to find something orange in our house! Besides the orange crush drinks which I used the day before, I had to do some searching when I realized what I was needing to take a photo of! This is DJ's "scent free hunting spray" carrier! I found it after doing some major searching! So there's the orange in our house :)

My black and white photo is of one of my craft supply boxes!! My crafts are over-flowing and my to-do list today is getting everything a bit more organized!

My final photo for the beginning of March was of fruit! Oh dear strawberries, how I love you! When I was little, we used to eat strawberries with sour cream and brown sugar! I can still take down a whole carton of these sweet little treats with that dip!!

Stay tuned for some yummy recipes this week!!

Until then...

Final February Photo Challenge Update

I made it through all of February with the photo challenge! I am loving this challenge! Looking back through all the pictures from this month has been a lot of fun! Doing this can bring back memories that otherwise might have slipped my mind! Here are the final days for February...

Something I made
A picture in our room
Something green
Money
A button

This is a picture of scarf I made! It has been so warm and cozy this past week while it's been chilly here in OK! I'm working on a pink scarf right now! I can't wait to get that one finished :)

The picture in our room, is a picture of DJ's mom! She passed away a couple of years ago, but I guarantee not a day goes by when her precious family does not think about her! Her love and tenderness I know for sure are being carried on the hearts of all her children! Isn't she a beautiful lady?!

My "something green" photo, is of a bottle of rice vinegar which just happens to be one of my favorite things to cook with! Hmmmm, I think I need to find a recipe with some rice vinegar in it for lunch now! Yummy :)

My "money shot" is a picture of a vase we keep our spare change in! We're almost to the top, and then we'll go cash in for some ice cream or something fun like that ;)

(Hmmm...this picture took about 15 mins to load, and is now a bit fuzzy) This is a button on my jacket! It's about the ONLY button I could find yesterday! I guess we're not "button" people ;)

Here is the run down of February:

Words
Childhood
Something Pink
Out your window
Numbers
Nature
Your shoes
If things could talk
Household
What you wore
The sky
Something blue
Red
The one you love
Something you see every morning
What's in the bag
Something sweet
Self-portrait
A gift
Handwriting
Best part of the day
What you're reading
Holding hands
Something you made
A picture in your room
Something green
Money
A button

Now, onward with March! Can't wait to see everything this month brings!!
Stay tuned :)
Until then...

Photo Challenge Update 2/24/2013

It's time for the Photo Challenge Update:

Something Sweet
Self-Portrait
A gift
Handwriting
My favorite part of today
Holding Hands
What You're Reading

My something sweet photo is a picture of a fake flower somehow left behind on a hiking trail we went on! If you're in Oklahoma, and want a fun place to go fishing, hiking, climbing, or camping ya'll should check out Osage State Park, which is located just west of Bartlesville! We had a blast hiking through the park for about 5 miles (which didn't begin to cover all the trails they have)! We can't wait to go back when the weather is nicer and go camping and see everything this park has to offer! If you want some good ideas, stop by the ranger station! They are very friendly and will point you in your whatever direction your heart desires!

My self portrait picture! Dee Jay came home from work, and saw my hair and told me I looked like a flapper girl from back in the day! I was trying a Pinterest hair-do which is supposed to make you wake up with curly hair! Well, I woke up with curly hair, on the downside it was big enough to send me back 30 years to the 80's! So...I won't be doing that one again, but at least I tried!

This pineapple was a gift to myself! :) It's been so long since I've bought a fresh pineapple and I couldn't resist them at the store! So I bought it, and will be devouring it today! Can't wait!

My handwriting on Wednesday! We had a snow storm blow through Okla and it was absolutely beautiful! We have another one on the forecast, and of course it's going to be almost 60 today and then by Tuesday morning, we may have more snow on the ground! Gotta love OK weather!

This was my favorite part of the day on Thursday! My sister had a pampered chef party at her house, and my sweet nephew was missing DJ! So we snapped this picture (sorry it's so blurry, he was holding the phone and trying to wave at DJ at the same time) and sent it to D at work to say hello! Love anytime I get with my family :)

I looked at the days wrong, but it's okay! Saturday was supposed to be holding hands and Friday was supposed to be, what you're reading. I switched since I don't know my days of the week! LOL

I know that we are completely behind on reading this book! We've seen the movie, and I'm trying to finish the book now! My nieces LOVE "The Hunger Games", so I decided if I want to know what they are talking about at all, I needed to read the book myself! I'm enjoying the book!

Okay, before we finish out the day, I want to share with you a FANTASTIC place we went and ate with some friends yesterday! S&J Oyster Company, in downtown Tulsa (around 1st and Elgin) is WONDERFUL! The service, the food, the atmosphere, the location...ALL OF IT was outstanding! If you're looking for a great place to try out downtown I highly recommend this place!

Oyster's on the half shell! I really can't explain the absolute wonderfulness of this appetizer! They made our cocktail sauce right there in front of us, and it was the perfect amount of spicy and tart! I like to put my oyster's on a cracker, however you can just take them right from the shell! (It's a texture thing for me! The cracker gives the crunchy texture that I need.)

This was my main dish!
Crawfish Etouffee!
Gorgeous presentation, and a taste to match! The pickled jalapeno, the buttered bread, the rice, the crawfish, & the sauce, all came together for the most wonderful fusion of flavors! I can't wait to go back and try something else sometime soon! Baseball season is right around the corner, and this is isn't far from the ball park!
In my opinion, this place has earned my repeat business, and if you haven't tried...you should!

Stay tuned for more great food and the final photo challenge update for February!
Until then...

Photo Challenge Update 1/17/2013

What you wore
The Sky
Something Blue
Something Red
The one you love
Something you see every morning
What's in my bag

This is a picture of what I wore last Sunday! (And of me holding DJ's cello) ;)

This is a picture of the sky right before nighttime!

My something blue picture was easy, because I had to take a trip to Wal-Mart! I saw this lone basket while waiting in the garden center to check out, so I snapped a picture of it! The lady in front of me heard the shutter, and turned around to see me "posing the basket", I'm sure she was thinking I don't get out much lol

My something red is a picture of DJ's card and gift I got him for Valentine's Day!

This is a picture of my love on Valentine's Day! He was headed to work...So handsome ;)

Something I see every morning is my coffee! YUM!

The first thing I pulled out of my bag was my headphone set! It was the last thing I threw in there, so I guess it makes since that it was on top!

Only 12 more days left in February for pictures then we're on to March! Stay tuned for some great recipes this week! Until then...
